One with community
As we grow old, the aspects of life that give us the most joy do not change.
Socialising with friends, spending time with family, learning from unique thinkers or sitting among green trees – these kinds of activities are fundamental to our identity, sense of self-worth and quality of life.
Melbourne is fortunate to be the home of a tight knit Jewish community of many origins which has led to a wonderful, culturally diverse lifestyle.
Many of the people who established our community over sixty years ago, have been or continue to be in the care of Emmy Monash. They embody our unique history and share it often over a bagel and a hot coffee.
At Emmy Monash we ensure life continues unabated into aged care. In doing so we make sure the broader community is still connected to the people who made their lifestyle possible and we maintain the experiences residents have always loved. In fact, with their guidance we often create experiences they have always wanted to try but never had the chance.
In comparison to other aged care facilities, the number of Emmy staff employed as part of the Culture, Community & Wellbeing Team is far greater than the industry standard. They are selected for their creativity as much as their qualifications, skills and experience. The positions of these passionate people are funded, in part, with the generous donations of community members.
It’s a fantastic expression of gratitude for the life we have been given and acknowledgement that rewarding social and intellectual interaction should be expected throughout long and fulfilling lives.
