Some people will have their accommodation costs met in full or part by the Australian Government, while many others will need to pay the accommodation price agreed with Emmy Monash Aged Care. The RAD is a one-off lump sum payment made to the aged care provider that reflects the actual location and size of the residential room.
This is a general fee payable by all residents (Respite and Permanent), and is a government requirement. This fee is set at 85% of the single person rate of the full Australian Aged Care Pension. The Basic Daily Fee changes on a six monthly basis in line with pension increases.
The Basic Daily fee is currently $51.63 per person, per day
Additional fees may apply if you choose a higher standard of accommodation or additional services. The Extra Service Fee provides for additional services or lifestyle extras, including higher standards of accommodation and food choices.
The Extra Service Fee (charged as an addition to the Basic Daily Fee) is $28 per person per day at Emmy Monash.
The Department of Human Services means tests all residents who enter a residential facility as a Permanent Resident. The Means Tested Care Fee is an extra contribution towards the cost of care that is determined by Centrelink and is based on a calculation of the resident’s income and assets. The Department of Human Services will advise of the exact daily amount (if any) a resident is required to pay.
Means Tested Care Fees are payable in addition to Basic Daily Fees.
There are Annual and Lifetime Caps that apply to the Means Tested Care Fee. Once these caps are reached, you cannot be asked to pay any more means-tested fees. The following caps apply to Means Tested Fees:
